On Saturday 20th November 2010, Alan Habben, a longstanding member of Barnet Guild of Artists, held a sale of paintings in Church House, Wood Street, Barnet. The paintings, all unframed original works, were put on sale by Alan to raise money for the charity Myeloma UK.
Thanks to his extensive network of friends and colleagues and helped by some good coverage in the local press, the event was very well attended. In fact, although scheduled to run from 10am to 4pm, the majority of paintings were sold by midday. All the available paintings, a total of 54, were sold during the day, raising a magnificent sum of £1700 for Myeloma UK.
A special mention must be made to all the volunteers who helped make the day a success, whether manning the sales desk, providing the refreshments, or washing up behind the scenes.
